Do I owe tax on my Vinted sales?
Three quick steps for UK sellers on Vinted, Depop, eBay and similar apps. Your answers stay in your browser. Nothing is sent or stored.
Are you trading or decluttering?
HMRC looks at things like why you bought the items and how often you sell (the "badges of trade").
Your numbers for one tax year
Only count items you bought to sell on. Leave out your own old clothes and things you've used.
Will the platform report you to HMRC?
Platforms report sellers with 30 or more sales, or more than about £1,700 (€2,000), in a calendar year. Count everything you've sold this year, including your own stuff.
Being reported does not mean you owe tax. It means HMRC can see your sales, so your records should match.
